"Sunward at Faria Beach", Ventura, California

"Sunward at Faria Beach", Ventura, California. 6x8 inches, oil on panel, $180

It's amazing how different things can look when looking into the sun as apposed to away. The last painting was looking West while this is towards the East.

"Faria Waves", Ventura, California

"Faria Waves", Ventura, California. 6x8 inches, oil on canvas, $old

The marine layer left a beautiful clear coast with a nice swell coming in. I've only painted here once before I ashamed to say. Can't wait to come back.

"Mesa Lane Morning Colors", Santa Barbara, California.

"Mesa Lane Morning Colors", Santa Barbara, California.
24x60 inches, oil on canvas, sold

After several weeks of marine layer, we finally had a clear morning on the coast. When I woke up I saw the opportunity and rushed down the steps at Mesa Lane. Huffing and puffing will all the gear, lunch and this giant canvas. The tide was coming up and it soon had me cordoned to the cliff side. This nice thing was all the warm cliffs reflecting in the water and the tropical clouds above. It doesn't get any better then this... reality and my painting effort:)

"Haskell's with The Bacara", Goleta, California

Fine Art Giclee Prints available of this image. Printed on canvas and stretched for $300. Please see my print website at chrispotterprints.blogspot.com for other available prints.
All of us Goletians have feelings about this beach and the resort that now sits on sacred ground. To their credit, they host an art show to benefit the Gaviota Coast... And they did get a hundred or so prints from me for their guest rooms.

I do have limited edition prints available of this painting. There are 23/25 prints left. A full size 24x36 inch giclee on canvas is $600.

I'm claiming this is the best sky I've ever painted. I finally figured out how to add another layer of depth. I really can't wait to get another shot at some dramatic multi leveled clouds!

"Coral Casino Winter Clouds", Butterfly Beach, Santa Barbara,Montecito, California

"Coral Casino Winter Clouds", 24 x 30 inches, oil on canvas, sold

I made this week after a few storms passed. It left the air cool and clear. These winter days are something else in Santa Barbara. They make you happy for the Suns warmth, rather than in the summer I've been feeling like hiding from it.

"After the King Tide at Padaro Beach", Summerland, California

"After the King Tide at Padaro Beach"
24 x 48 inches, oil on canvas, sold

This was the first time I ever painted here. I arrived as the king tide made its way up the beach and into a few yards. Someone actually took a picture of me setting up... plein air extreme!

"Hammond's Fall, of The Tree", Montecito, California

"Hammond's Fall, of The Tree"
15x30 inches, Oil on Canvas, sold

I arrived at noon to a crystal clear day with a gentle fall breeze. Some arborists where taking a break from cutting down the large Eucalyptus at the point. By the time this painting was done they reduced it to almost nothing. I'm sad I've lost part of the focal point in a dozen prior paintings. I'm happy I got to be there for its last day.

"Hendrys Windy Morning", Santa Barbara, California

"Hendrys Windy Morning", 11x14 inches, oil on canvas, donated to Roosevelt School Auction

"Crystal Morning at Hendry's", Santa Barbara, California

"Crystal Morning at Hendrys", 12x16 inches, oil on canvas, $420, donated to Boys and Girls club SB

I was expecting rain and clouds but instead arrived at Hendrys to another beautiful morning. Big surprise. I never would have attempted to capture the glare a few years ago. Now I realize that's where the magic is. Can't wait for my next chance to do it again.

"Hendrys Fall Sunset 2", Arroyo Burro, Santa Barbara, California

"Hendrys Fall Sunset 2"
24 x 48 inches, oil on canvas, sold

As the sun starts to set lower along the horizon we are get some great angles of light on our cliffs. I made sure to walk this painting around the Boathouse after I finished it.

"Miramar in Blue Two", Montecito, California

"Miramar in Blue Two", 24x48 inches, oil on canvas, sold

Look, they rebuilt the Miramar exactly like it was! So smart...
 — at Miramar Beach.

I painted this in the fall of 2015 and they had not actually rebuilt the Miramar. I did it in memory.

"Rainbow at Miramar", Miramar Beach, Montecito, California

"Rainbow at Miramar", 24x60 inches, oil on canvas, $3200

After the lovely rain I ran out to Miramar Beach as the last drops fell. I stumbled on the rocks as the high tide left very little beach. As I set up this amazing rainbow appeared. It slowly wandered down the coast as I put in the clouds and warm sunset light. Then a leprechaun jumped out from under a house and gave me a beer, while the most beautiful unicorn I have ever seen ran down the beach at full speed. What an evening!

"The Pit of Bliss", Hendrys Beach Pit, Santa Barbara, California

"The Pit of Bliss", Hendrys Beach, 20x30 inches, oil on canvas, sold
I'm glad I resisted the urge to paint the coastal cliffs again. The morning light after the rain, it was like starring into a sea of jewels.
