(They can also be printed bigger or smaller then this size if needed)

I've been driving by this view for the past 7 years thinking about what a great painting it would make. I finally walked the couple hundred yards from East Beach and was greeted with fluffy clouds and a cool breeze. Bike riders and stroller pushers where giving my thumbs ups and waves as they cruised by. La Cumbre Peak really stands back from the rest of the range from this angle. You can't quite see it but the Jerry Garcia Mountain is off to the right - as one of the bystanders pointed out to me.

"The Orange Bluffs at Butterfly", Montecito, California

"The Orange Bluffs at Butterfly", 12x36 inches, oil on canvas, sold

The cliffs here are really that orange. It's such a nice contrast with the blue ocean. Anytime there are two big forms of contrasting colors it makes me happy! It's also nice to be under the shade of the cypress tree on the hottest day of the year. Jumping in the ocean every hour helps too.

"Afternoon Contrast at Butterfly", Montecito

"Afternoon Contrast at Butterfly", Montecito. 30x48, oil on canvas, sold.

Lovely fog has dominated our mornings. Followed by warm afternoons with an on shore breeze. It's quite hospitable here. The ocean is 66 degrees, clean and fresh. I swam a few times and enjoyed every second of this magnificent beach.

"Hammond's Fall, of The Tree", Montecito, California

"Hammond's Fall, of The Tree"
15x30 inches, Oil on Canvas, sold

I arrived at noon to a crystal clear day with a gentle fall breeze. Some arborists where taking a break from cutting down the large Eucalyptus at the point. By the time this painting was done they reduced it to almost nothing. I'm sad I've lost part of the focal point in a dozen prior paintings. I'm happy I got to be there for its last day.

"Miramar in Blue Two", Montecito, California

"Miramar in Blue Two", 24x48 inches, oil on canvas, sold

Look, they rebuilt the Miramar exactly like it was! So smart...

I painted this in the fall of 2015 and they had not actually rebuilt the Miramar. I did it in memory.

"Miramar Memories"

A couple amazing days at the beach connected me with the collective memories of this wonderful place. I got to know a few locals and a few tourists in perfect conditions. I am proud to say this painting was accepted into the 2015 Art Walk at the Natural History Museum.

"Butterfly Beach Sunset Arch", Montecito, California

"Butterfly Beach Sunset Arch", 6 x 8 inches, oil on panel, sold
I had some energy so I went for a 2nd painting as the sun set behind the bluffs beyond Butterfly Beach. Everyone who wanted to get away from the heat came down to chill till dusk. Such a great village we are part of here!

"Ortega Hill Grande", Summerland, California

"Ortega Hill Grande", 24 x 48 inches, oil on canvas, $2500.

I made this a couple weeks ago as I was recovering from this years nasty flu. I was coughing every few minutes and the freeway noise was crashing inside my head. But, I was painting, not sitting in bed! So, I was happy....

"Hammond's Beach Panorama", Montecito, California

"Hammond's Beach Panorama", 20 x 60 inches, oil on canvas, sold

It's been a tradition of mine to spend a few days at Hammond's near my birthday which is next week. I do this because that place signifies my break into being a full time artist. Before I quit my job I would day dream of being there making an amazing painting that I would sell for enough to pay rent. Dreams do come true!

Not only is it a great place to hang out, it has some incredible shapes and values to work with. I especially love the mountain ocean combo. I could play with those shapes all day long.

I have never painted on Coast Village Road before. It has a lot of nice shade and the street does an aesthetic turn at the top. Here you see Jeannine's and its neighbors.

"Butterfly Beach Cypress", Butterfly Beach, Montecito, California

"Butterfly Beach Cypress"
24 x 30 inches
oil on canvas
$1200

Trees really allow you to show movement in a painting. I can almost feel the wind picking up looking at the painting. On this day we went from totally foggy to totally perfect to totally wind blown in a few hours. I attempted to find that place in the middle.

"Butterfly Beach Brightly", Santa Barbara

"Butterfly Brightly"
5 x 7 inches
oil on panel
sold

It was one of the brightest hottest days of the year while I was out here painting this small piece. It was like the fist day of summer. I worked on it later at home and ended up getting even more colorful. The pixels on your computer screen probably can't even handle that much color dog.
