"Butterfly in the Sky", Butterfly Beach, Montecito, California

"Butterfly in the Sky", Butterfly Beach, Montecito. 6x8 inches, oil on panel, $180.

I made this in the studio late at night after everyone was asleep. Rather than watching tv I made my own mental adventure to Butterfly Beach. It was nice there!

"Magical Sky at Hendry's", Santa Barbara, California

"Magical Sky at Hendry's", 24x36 inches, oil on canvas, donated for Taste of the Town, live auctioned for $3750!

I do have limited edition prints available of this painting. There are 23/25 prints left. A full size 24x36 inch giclee on canvas is $600.

I'm claiming this is the best sky I've ever painted. I finally figured out how to add another layer of depth. I really can't wait to get another shot at some dramatic multi leveled clouds!

"Hendry's Red Sunset Memory", Santa Barbara, California

"Hendry's Red Sunset Memory"
12 x 16 inches, oil on canvas, sold

I was purposely trying to leave purple out of this painting and wow, what a great set of colors! I did it  completely from memory, and I even added the next point even though you can't see it from this spot. It helps add a nice middle grey ground.

"Hendrys Fall Sunset 2", Arroyo Burro, Santa Barbara, California

"Hendrys Fall Sunset 2"
24 x 48 inches, oil on canvas, sold

As the sun starts to set lower along the horizon we are get some great angles of light on our cliffs. I made sure to walk this painting around the Boathouse after I finished it.

I made this in the studio while my dog was recovering from getting chomped on the nose by his dog friend. Its encouraging to think if I am stuck inside I can still paint the places I love.

"Hendry's Negative Tide", Hendry's Beach, Santa Barbara, California

"Hendry's Negative Tide"
22x44 inches, oil on canvas, sold

I have not been posting many paintings lately and I apologize. I have been busy making commissions that I don't like to post until I turn them in. This one was a success and it was fun doing because it got me to walk down the beach and paint a different view than I normally do. And a different time... this was done at a negative tide and I never paint from this deep as the tide comes back pretty quick. I like to be sent in a different direction. I know I can never help to be myself and make something original.

"The Grand Panorama", Santa Barbara, California

"The Grand Panorama", Santa Barbara Waterfront from Stearns Wharf. 36 x 72 inches of pure joy, oil on canvas, for $6K.

Sometimes size really does matter... but you wouldn't be able to tell that looking at your tiny computer screens. Come see this big ass painting in person at Distinctive Framing, 1333 State Street. I am even having a reception there this Thursday, Dec. 4th, 5-8pm with beer and wine and food and art.

"Santa Barbara Purple Panorama", Stearn's Wharf, Santa Barbara, California

"Santa Barbara Purple Panorama"
12 x 36 inches, oil on canvas, sold

This has become my favorite place to paint. Stearn's Wharf has some magical evening moments. Nothing like being on the water as nature displays its colorful feathers.

"Hendry's Magic", Arroyo Burro, Santa Barbara

"Hendry's Magic"
8 x 8 inches

I arrived at the beach with just a half hour before sunset. I set up quickly and used my instincts to get it all in. It was one of those truly amazing sunsets that happen 100 times a year at this beach.

"Devereux Sunset with Holly"

One of the best places to watch birds in the area is Devereux Slough. There are a couple beautiful white swans hanging out there right now and I was amazed at how big and graceful they are. I will have to paint them next time...

This one looks a lot better in person. I have 50 or so paintings lying around and this one keeps catching my eye when I walk by. Imagine with a nice gold frame.
