This was only the 2nd time I have painted here and it was fun trying to find my view. I had never seen the park part of on the backside of the point. A great place to paint but I wanted to practice painting the great waves that where coming in so I hiked around the point. It was high tide so I did get my feet and pants wet but managed to save the canvas from a similar fate. I didn't realize the river mouth was so big either - another beautiful subject for another day. I have to say that it is a little intimidating trying to paint the foreground of jumbled branches rocks and iceplant. I mean, I'm not gonna paint a thousand rocks, thats for sure. I leave that for another artist. I prefer to just feel it out in brushstrokes. What do you think?
I think you did a great job, it was the first thing I noticed!
ReplyDeleteI lived in Santa Barbara for three years. Your paintings are like a vivid dream that bring me back to those times. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe brown branch and rocks were the first thing I noticed too. I like how the ice plant green balances the ocean blue. The tree is a bonus. Pleasing.
