"May Gray Day", Gaviota Coast, Santa Barbara, California

"May Gray Day", 24x30 inches, oil on canvas, sold.
The marine layer has been present in the first week of May. Low clouds and fog usually means less wind. A great time to post up on a cliff on the Gaviota Coast.

"Goleta Estuary Triptych", Goleta, California

"Goleta Estuary Triptych", 3 24x30 inch oil paintings on canvas, sold.

It's a good thing I have all sorts of easels. A studio would help but the porch works after the summer months.
 — at Goleta Beach Park.

I do have these paintings available as prints. All 3 of them printed and stretched on canvas would run $1400. I will only be making 10 copies of them so they will be very limited edition. Please email me at chrispotterart@gmail.com if your interested!

Thats platform Holly in the background. I have tendency to always paint the big view. Sometimes its nice to isolate a few elements and simplify the subject.

"Sandpiper from Haskell's Hill", Goleta, California

"Sandpiper from Haskell's Hill", 20x24 inches, oil on canvas, sold
I love to golf. I love to paint. Golf Painting. It's about time!

Doesn't this view look better without the ugly oil pier too? One day we will get smart and actually remove all oil production from the coast.

"Coal Oil Point Monsoon", Goleta, California

"Coal Oil Point Monsoon"
30 x 48 inches, oil on canvas, $2800

It was really an almost perfect day out at the point but those clouds are the remnants of a monsoon from the south. I hiked out there with my gear loaded up on an old golf push cart. Then I parked myself under a little dwarfed cypress that has a perfect seat cut from a lost limb. I painted for 6 hours straight but I made sure to take a couple breaks and jump in the 70 degree water to reset the clock and keep interested.

"Refugio Standard", Gaviota Coast, Refugio State Beach, California

"Refugio Standard"
18 x 24 inches
oil on canvas
sold

Just another perfect day in the refuge. Two groups of hump back whales came through just a 100 yards or so off the point. My friend and I ran out to the bluff and watched them cruise by.  It inspired me to finish the painting. It was a lucky day as I sold it to someone who walked away with it. I love it when that happens!
