Cabrillo Point, Santa Barbara

"Ledbetter Rocks"
6 x 12 inches
oil on canvas
sold

Someone told me that there used to be a huge rock right off of this point that they called Castle Rock. Some rich guy had a boat(named Ida?) that was too big for the existing Santa Barbara Harbor. The story  goes, that he had castle rock blown up and used the rock to build the seawall at Sandspit. Anyone want to tell the story better? Feel free to comment.

  1. castle rock was more over by the harbor. since the harbor has been built it has created what is now the SBCC stadium, parking lots, and Ledbetter beach
