The Santa Barbara Mission

I don't know if you can tell from just looking at this website but I have made a few advancements in the past months of painting. One of the things that has helped my paintings out a little bit is my overall patience with the process. I am much more disciplined at the beginning of the painting making sure to always be drawing through those stages so that I don't end up with any shapes I don't like. I have also figured out how to manage the wetness of the paint a little better to achieve better color for these "alla prima" paintings - that means paintings finished all in one session. That takes some technique as oil paints stay wet for several days. At least 4 days if you have a marine layer like SB.
