Alder Creek, Sespe Wilderness

"Indian Cave"
acrylic on board
8 x 8 inches
$300

I made this on our last backpacking trip to the Sespe last May. This is a part of Alder creek right below a huge Indian Painted Cave. It was a hell of a hike to get up to this camp, we got lost, had to do a couple hours of boulder hoping with full packs. The next morning, I woke up before everyone, got all my stuff together and went to paint the creek. When I was getting my paint ready I realized, I forgot to bring blue. It was super devastating as I was planning on doing a bunch of paintings on the trip. You never know what challenges you will have in life and the point is to overcome them. So after thinking about it for 10 minutes I took the lack of blue as a challenge. I ended up making 10 paintings on that 4 day trip and I have sold the majority of them.
