I find it really difficult to fit a sky with clouds into a painting. The canvas always seems to small. One day I will get a huge canvas and paint a huge cloudy sky on it.

I think that you have the right idea about the clouds ... check out Georgia O'Keeffe's 'Sky Above Clouds' series from the early 1960's ... she did some BIG paintings on the subject.
