Its rumored that the Potter family was the funding behind the original construction of the Granada. Its a really cool old building that seems like it was picked up from a street in some other city and dropped here. Partly because sometime after they built it they have limited the building hight maximum in SB to about 4 stories. Personally I like the lack of tall buildings here as I can get much better views of the mountains that way. Although I am completely out of sorts when I get into a big city.
Maybe that's why I always feel lost in San Francisco....too many tall buildings, too much traffic, too many people. I'm glad someone imposed a height restriction in SB. It has served the town well.
ReplyDeleteI always loved the Granada. Sitting in those theater seats staring up at the ceiling waiting for the movie to start...great place.
