I made this yesterday on an amazing day out at Ellwood. I grew up going to this beach and it has always been a special place for me. I got there by 8:30 am and was greeted with an amazing misty sunrise and 6 ft waves curling in. As I painted the tide retreated and revealed all the formations of ancient sea floors that have been turned up on end. It makes for interesting changing conditions in the surf. The tide pools they form are also fun to look through.
