A Glider Day

15 x 30 inches
oil on canvas
sold

This painting was made on a grey day at the Douglas Family Preserve in Sa
nta Barbara. I was fortunate to have the afternoon off from the kids and I wanted to make the most of it by painting on the largest canvas I ever did outside. I walk there all the time so I already have contemplated this view many many times. As usual, you can count on a little atmosphere to help you feel the depth of the veiw up there. I did work on this later in the studio as I couldn't finish it before the light changed. Not to mention one of the gliders near knocked me over with his sail.
