Not sure if you can tell but I have been taking more time with the design of my paintings. Instead of jumping in and painting the most obvious view, I have been searching for the most interesting combination of shapes and colors. For this one, I wanted that ocean to be the largest area in the composition and I adjusted real world objects around that idea.
