I will be making a few works at Lotusland over the next month. One of which I will be donating to their plant auction in September. This was the view that made the biggest impression on my first walk through these amazing gardens. Not sure what I am going to paint next but I am sure it will be another amazing time...
I did learn a few things about this place as a few tours came through: This was the original swimming pool of the property until Madame Ganna Walska turned it into the Lotusgarden. The structure to the right was designed by George Washington Smith. The Lotuses like warm murky water. They usually bloom in June and July. Each flower only lasts a few days and is completely edible. Often used in teas and medicine in some asian cultures.
