I woke up before the sun rose and drove up the 1 a few miles from our camp. I came around a bend and saw this view, and knew it was my spot. I parked right on the 1 and set up my easel in a turnout. It turned out there are very few people around so not more than a dozen people passed while I was painting. It was very peaceful, with no wind and amazing light.
