"Gloucester Docks", Gloucester, Massachusetts

"Gloucester Docks"
16 x 20 inches
oil on linen panel
$1800

Probably the best painting experience on the trip ended in the most successful painting. I found a small balcony/work area of a local dory maker. It had this view of the docks and his dory's below. He wasn't there at the time but I couldn't wait to ask permission so I set up anyway. He was a classic Massachusetts character and was fine with me taking up residence on his balcony. I got to see all sorts of people coming to ask for advice from the woodworker on random ship building matters. I was really digging their accent and how they would put each other down but would mean no harm. It reminded me the kids I grew up with.
